A.S.W. Rosenbach - Books and Bidders: The Adventures of a Bibliophile
Boston: Little Brown, 1927. First edition, first printing. Hardcover. 8vo. Brown cloth binding. 311 pp. Gilt topstain. Illustrated with a hundred or so photographs. Good condition; no dust jacket. Light wear along edges of covers, bumping to forecorners. Very clean interior; no markings.
There is in addition, tucked in to the book, a typed-letter hand-autographed by A.S.W. Rosenbach, on letterhead of the American Friends of the Hebrew University (an organization of which he was the president), to a colleague in Los Angeles, S.M. Newmark, to whom the present book once belonged and who presumably inserted the letter therein. Rosenbach, of course, was one of the preeminent book dealers of his era; in Books and Bidders he describes his lifelong interest in books, stretching from his boyhood in post-Civil War Philadelphia through the nineteen twenties.
