Robert Heinlein - The Moon is a Harsh Mistress
New York: Putnam, 1966. First edition, first printing. Hardcover. 8vo. Red cloth binding. 383 pp. Unprepossessing ex-library copy of Heinlein's science fiction masterpiece, with extensive wear and library markings on the front endpaper and upper textblock edge. Sides of covers and textblock are scuffed and smudged. Front free endpaper is clipped irregularly at upper forecorner and adorned with card pouch. Faint ink smudge markings to rear endpaper. No markings to pages otherwise, though, and text remains completely legible. Dust jacket still in good condition under sturdy if somewhat dullened library mylar; there is a single small closed tear (about 3mm long) on the upper front edge at the hinge. No library sticker on the jacket spine. The jacket flaps are glued to the insides of the covers, unfortunately; I am confident, however, that a book wizard with unusual precision would be able to extricate the jacket without too much trouble.
The Moon is a Harsh Mistress won the 1967 Hugo Award and in a 1998 Locus Survey was ranked the fourth best science fiction novel of all time.
