Rubbing along edges of covers; small black stroke marking at front fore-edge (4mm by 1mm or so--see photos). Former owner's name stamped on front endpapers; interior otherwise clean. The timbre and temper of this breezy adventure memoir is suggested by the quoted Samuel Johnson aphorism that prepends the narrative: "The Man who would go to sea for pleasure would go to hell for a pastime." A classic in the maritime adventure genre.
