Henry David Thoreau - Cape Cod

New York: Houghton Mifflin, 1896. First illustrated edition (originally published in 1865 by Ticknor and Fields). Hardcover. 12mo. 173 and 208 pp. respectively. Green cloth binding; gilt titular lettering, floral cover decoration and upper textblock edge. Illustrations from sketches in colors by Amelia M. Watson. Both volumes in very good condition. Light sun fading on both volumes along the spines resulting in a somewhat golden color (a condition which appears to be universal for this edition) as well as minor wear to edges of boards for both volumes centering on the top of the spine. Both volumes are absolutely immaculate interior-wise, free of any markings and with intact and unwrinkled frontispiece tissues.
