James Jones - The Thin Red Line
Charles Scribner, 1962. 8vo. Hardcover. Good condition. 495 pp. Book-of-the-Month club edition. Ink marking (presumably remainder mark) along upper textblock edge near headband. Former owner's name/date along upper edge of front and rear pastedown pages. No other markings on pages. Clean cloth boards. Dust jacket is a bit scuffed at forecorners, along spine tips (see photo). Basis for the acclaimed Terrence Malick film of the same name. The book's title is taken from a Rudyard Kipling poem: "It's 'Tommy this' and it's 'Tommy that' and it's 'Tommy 'ows your soul?' but it's a thin red line of 'eroes when the drums begin to roll."
